Campers raising their hands

There is no substitute for a powerful secondary school education. It comes at a critical time in a teenagers's life. It sets the trajectory for a teen's aspirations and accomplishments. It provides the training, learning, and discipline to help a young adult succeed in college as well as to find meaningful work and constructive, positive adult relationships. There is no better investment of our dollars if we wish to help our society.

The Pegasus Fund identifies promising boys and girls who can and will take advantage of a the powerful learning, skills, and relationships offered by the Four Winds Camp, and then helps them find their way to boarding schools that will provide them with a rocket booster to go out into this world as agents of constructive change. This combination of summer opportunity for both skills and social development and a top-flight high school education is a powerful -- and singular -- model. It deserves all of our support.

My hat is off to the founders and board members of The Pegasus Fund.

The support KIPP students have received from The Pegasus Fund has been essential for their continued climb from schools where they were underserved toward getting the education they deserve – they've solidified each child they've work with's path to college, giving them resources and experiences every child should have in their formative years, no matter their background. We are fortunate to have them as partners in the most important work there is, helping all children maximize their futures. Thank you Pegasus!

Pegasus combines the missions and resources admirable institutions: no one is re-creating the wheel, administration costs are negligible. We were incredibly impressed when the Pegasus founders brought the concept to us: the founders and their friends are responsible for funding the necessary financial aid endowment and cover campers' incidental expenses, and they personally mentor their KIPP campers throughout the year. For young people who cherish Thacher and Four Winds to involve themselves in providing the camp experience to hard-working KIPP students is the best kind of giving back and making a difference. What an example they set!
